Response to Neighbor

We hear you, and regret the inconvenience and exasperation you outlined in the comment posted. While there is no excuse for anyone yelling at a member of the public, I believe the workers on Greenwich and Filbert are nearly as exasperated as the neighbors. They want to complete that segment of the job and move on. Just the same, we apologize for this unkind behavior.

City departments and PG&E are always trying to coordinate but many times there are immediate unplanned repairs that have to be done in congruence with planned repair and replacement work. With this water/sewer/paving project, Public Works, Parking & Traffic and SFPUC is trying to coordinate this work in sequence so we won't have to come back to your neighborhood any time soon. Complicating matters in many cases, is the fact that many of these water mains and sewer pipes are 50 to 100 years old. This often means more work than expected when we open up the street. Nonetheless, you bring up some very good points that we want to make our contracting crews follow. We will review with all parties at Thursday's weekly progress meeting. I trust this work will become less tedious for you and your neighbors in the weeks ahead.

Would it help if we held a bi-weekly coffee for 30 minutes or so at a nearby coffee shop to update whomever is interested? Let us know.
