Clay Street Final Repaving is Underway Thursday

The final process of repaving on Clay Street between the intersections of Scott and Divisadero streets has begun Thursday morning, which will complete the construction of a new water line in this neighborhood. The water line installation is part of the SFPUC’s Water System Improvement Program (WSIP), a combination of new water mains, sewer repairs and replacement, and pavement renovation. A joint undertaking between the SFPUC and the Department of Public Works, the North University Mound System Upgrade project will provide a backup water supply to this area in case of an emergency, reduce service interruption or repairs, and prevent sewer backups and overflows.

The WSIP project team wants to thank the neighbors for their patience throughout the construction and wish everyone a happy holiday and a prosperous new year.

The water and sewer replacement, and street renovation for Pacific Avenue was completed after workers repaved two blocks between Steiner and Scott streets Thursday, October 22nd. Steiner between Pacific and Jackson was also repaved on the same day.

Workers began repaving Vallejo street starting at the corner of Van Ness Avenue Friday morning .
Following installations of a new sewer line and a water main, the contractor has started the final process of street renovation of three blocks on Vallejo Street from Octavia Street to Van Ness Avenue Friday.

Driveway construction has begun Thursday, September 17. Garages will NOT be accessible on Monday, September 21st, between 8 am and 6 pm. Work will continue on some driveways after Monday, however access will be provided.

Driveway construction has begun Friday, September 18th. Garages will NOT be accessible for one more day on Monday, September 21st, between 8 am and 6 pm. Work will continue on some driveways after Monday, however access will be provided.

As part of the final phase of the combined water main and sewer replacement project, the contractor will be pouring concrete for the new driveways on the south side of Vallejo Street on Friday, September 18th. In order to allow time for the concrete to dry properly, garages on this side of Vallejo Street will NOT be accessible between 8 am to 6 pm. Please make arrangements accordingly. Construction Update on Vallejo between Gough and Van Ness

Workers are preparing for next week’s driveway restoration on Vallejo street.

1. Vallejo - Gough and Franklin
* Driveway restoration - The contractor is restoring the driveways on the north side of this block and will pour the driveways on Tuesday, September 15th. To allow the concrete to dry, the driveways will not be accessible that day from 8 am to 6 pm.
* Pipe-testing - The Water Department will have finished testing and making connections by Friday, September 11th.

2. Vallejo at Van Ness - Restoring curb ramp on the west side of the intersection through September 25th.

3. Union
* Larkin to Hyde - The contractor will finish installing 24-inch and 8-inch water tranmission lines next Monday.
* Hyde to Leavenworth – The contractor will install 24-inch and 8-inch water transmission lines from Tuesday to Friday.
* At the intersection of Hyde – Crews will be working over 3 consecutive weekends starting September 12th through September 27th. Weekends are the only time MUNI can de-energize buses so that construction work can proceed at this intersection. After the tunneling work under the cable car tracks has been completed, the contractor will install and connect a 24-inch water transmission line, which will take about a week.

The work crew started restoring driveways Tuesday morning.

Scott Street Driveway / Street Restoration Update

By around 12 pm Friday, more than half of the west side of Scott between Washington and Clay streets are poured with concrete.

Scott / Washington & Jackson
Demolition of the west side of Scott Street between Washington and Jackson streets is scheduled for Monday, August 31. The new concrete will be poured Wednesday, September 2. To cure the concrete surface and and allow adequate time for drying, garage access on this stretch of Scott will be restricted from:

8 am Monday, August 31 to 4 pm Saturday, September 5.

To help accommodate residents who will not have access to driveways and garages, their vehicles will be allowed to park along the east side of Scott Street. One-lane traffic will be limited to local residents only.
Other activities in the area next week:
Vallejo / Gough & Van Ness
Test pipes, make 48 changeovers from old to new pipes, and 7 connections to buildings all week.

Notices have been sent out to residents on Scott between Clay and Jackson advising them that their driveways will be scheduled to be poured. In order for the cement to dry up residents will not be able to access their driveways on certain days.

8 am Wednesday. August 26th to
4 pm Monday, August 31.

* Scott between Washington and Jackson - Driveways on this block will not be accessible from:
8 am Wednesday, 26th August to 8 am Thursday, 27th August.

Last Phase of Water Pipeline Project Moves to North Beach

Project work will begin at Filbert Street between Mason Street and Columbus Avenue.

Starting next week, the contractor will begin underground work and laying a new water main using trenchless methods across the intersection of Filbert and Mason streets. The work will commence on approximately Monday, August 3rd. Paving work will follow after completion of the water work in the area. This is the last segment of the North Unversity Mound System Upgrade Project that is scheduled to be completed near year's end.

New Driveways for Webster Street Residents

This driveway on Webster Street will be repaved next Wednesday

Three driveways on the east side of Webster Street between Pacific Avenue and Broadway Street (2590 and 2550 Webster, and 2300 Pacific Avenue) will be repaved starting next Monday, July 27th. There will be no access to these driveways on Wednesday, July 29th when the contractor will pour concrete and let it dry for a day. The contractor will also repave a portion of Webster Street at the northeast corner of Broadway next Monday.

1. Vallejo / Franklin & Van Ness : Continue testing 24-inch water main from Van Ness to Broadway/Octavia next Monday and Tuesday, install 54-inch sewer main and replace side sewer next Monday; install service lines from Tuesday to Thursday; and make connections to homes on Wednesday.

The contractor will repave the sidewalk in front of 1854, 1868, 1874, and 1880 Vallejo Street on Thursday, July 16 th and Friday, July 17 th between 8 am to 6 pm. During construction the driveways at these addresses will not be accessible to the residents. We appreciate your support and request that residents plan activities accordingly. (We will update blog if work finishes earlier).

Vallejo/ Franklin & Van Ness Water Main and Sewer Constructions

Construction at Vallejo Street between Franklin Street and Van Ness Avenue will continue throughout the month of July

Water main : Our contractor will excavate trench and install 24-inch and 8-inch water mains next Monday. From Wednesday to Friday, crew will test a 24-inch water main at Broadway and Octavia.
Sewer replacement: Excavating trench and installing 54-inch sewer line from Tuesday to Friday.

Water main construction on Pacific Avenue moves uphill from Pierce to Scott streets

Starting this week, the contractor starts saw-cutting, trenching and installing 24-inch transmission line through next week. The removal of abandoned railway track on this block continues.

This week the contractor has been removing abandoned rail at Pacific Avenue between Steiner and Pierce streets and the same work will reach the intersection of Scott Street next Wednesday. On-going excavating, saw-cutting work and installing water and sewer pipelines will continue in the same area.

1. Vallejo at Franklin : On-going jack and bore under the street and installing 36-inch casing

Work Moves Towards Van Ness Avenue

Workers start trenching outside 1699 Vallejo Street Tuesday morning, May 19th.

Begining Tuesday, the contractor starts excavating at Vallejo Street at Franklin Street to install water pipelines. This same work has been ongoing at Vallejo Street between Franklin and Gough streets since Wednesday, May 13th and will continue through this week. Work at other locations this week:

1. Vallejo – Gough & Octavia : Install side sewers Monday and Tuesday.
2. Scott – Clay & Jackson : On-going excavating of trench, installing side sewers, and constructing new manhole.
3. Pacific - Steiner & Pierce : RemoveJabandoned rail and then excavate trench. Tuesday through Friday.

Webster between Green and Lombard completed

One smooth street - Webster between Union and Green streets.
The last segment of paving work on Webster between Lombard and Filbert streets was completed on Monday, May 4th bringing the water and sewer main construction work in the area to final completion. The contractor will now concentrate on work in the following locations:

1. Vallejo/Franklin & Octavia : On-going. Shore, excavate trench and install side sewers.
2. Pacific/Webster & Steiner : On-going. Saw cut and excavate trench.
3. Scott /Washington & Pacific : Install side sewers and culverts.

On-going work at Vallejo Street between Gough and Octavia
will continue next week.

The contractor’s work next week concentrates on the sewer construction at Vallejo Street between Franklin and Octavia streets, including excavating trench and removing existing brick sewer. Other on-going construction updates:

1. Pacific/Fillmore & Steiner : Excavating trench and laying 24-inch ductile iron pipe between Fillmore & Steiner streets.
2. Pacific/Steiner & Pierce : Continue to remove abandoned rail next Wednesday to Friday.
3. Webster/Lombard & Filbert : Grinding and paving will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday, completing the Webster segment of sewer and water construction.
4. Scott/Washington & Pacific : Installing side sewers and culverts.

Pacific/Fillmore Saturday Work, April 25th

Saturday work at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Fillmore Street.
Our contractor will be working at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Fillmore Street this Saturday, April 25th. The weekend is the only time MUNI can take buses off-line so that construction work can proceed. Other construction updates in the vicinity include:

1. Pacific/Webster & Fillmore : Temporary paving on Thursday & Friday and will continue through Monday.
2. Pacific/ Webster & Pierce : The contractor plans to finish removing abandoned rail between Webster and Fillmore this week and will do the same next week between Steiner and Pierce. The contractor has the option of closing off the street but residents can access their driveways at all times.
3. Webster/Lombard & Filbert : aving will begin next Monday. This is the final stretch of work between Lombard and Green.
4. Vallejo/Gough & Octavia : Sewer work, including saw-cutting, excavating trench, removing existing sewer and installing side sewer, begins this Friday and will continue for a week.

Wesbter/Lombard Night Work Monday April 20th

Because of CalTrans requirements, the City's Water Department will have to install service connections to buildings at Webster and Lombard streets at night on Monday April 20, 2009, from 11 pm to 5 am.
